PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHY / KATOPROJECT OVERVIEW
KATO delivered the Faida Water Treatment Plant for GIZ through a turnkey EPC scope covering the reservoir intake, civil structures, pumping equipment, pipelines, electrical infrastructure and automation. The plant was designed for a treatment capacity of approximately 2,530 m³ per hour.
From a floating intake on Mosul Dam Reservoir to the electrical and control systems inside the plant, the scope connected engineering, procurement and construction in a single turnkey project.

Turnkey delivery
Design capacity is approximately 2,530 m³/hour, equivalent to 60,720 m³/day at continuous 24-hour operation.

01 / PROJECT SCOPE
A floating raw-water intake draws from Mosul Dam Reservoir. Its precast-concrete pontoon bridge extends approximately 500 metres into the reservoir, providing access to the intake platform and supporting the associated pumping infrastructure.
The floating arrangement accommodates a reservoir environment where water levels can fluctuate. The work combined pontoon construction and installation with intake pumping equipment and mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

02 / PROJECT SCOPE
KATO constructed reinforced-concrete structures, foundations, equipment supports, operational buildings and associated site infrastructure. Civil works were coordinated with mechanical equipment, electrical systems and pipelines to bring the plant’s systems together.

03 / PROJECT SCOPE
The pumping scope included Grundfos submersible pumps for raw-water abstraction and KSB high-lift pumps for treated-water pumping. Equipment was integrated with the associated pipework, valves, fittings and plant infrastructure.
Pipeline works connected the intake, treatment facilities and pumping systems, covering raw-water abstraction, plant operations and treated-water conveyance.

04 / PROJECT SCOPE
The electrical scope included power-distribution networks, transformers, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, cabling, equipment connections and earthing. Control, instrumentation and SCADA systems supported plant monitoring and automation.
The description identifies Schneider Electric for transformer equipment and ABB and Siemens for electrical components. Electrical and automation systems were integrated with the mechanical and pumping installations.
DELIVERY IN PRACTICE
KATO’s responsibilities included engineering coordination, equipment and material procurement, construction planning, multidisciplinary execution, quality assurance and HSE management. The scope connected civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and pipeline works in one facility.
